What to do if you become unwell this Bank Holiday
07/05/2020
Primary and community care services remain very much 'open' during this bank holiday (Friday 8th May).
-Anyone who requires medical care are able to access GP services in the County Durham area by calling NHS 111. Callers will take part in a telephone assessment which enables appointments to be prioritised for those who need to be seen more urgently. All GP services across the county have moved to total telephone triage, using on line and video consultations. Patients are asked not to enter GP hubs for any reason before the need for a face-to-face appointment being agreed. Patients can also access health advice by completing an online (eConsult) form on their local practice website.
-Local pharmacies will be open for those experiencing minor ailments such as a cold. See here for opening times. If you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 please avoid pharmacies and visit the NHS 111 website for medical advice.
Patients are reminded not to ignore symptoms if they become increasingly unwell, and to seek medical help and advice by calling NHS111 as soon as possible.
