Men's Health Week 2026

Men’s Health Week runs from Monday 15th June to Sunday 21st June. The annual awareness campaign encourages men and boys to take proactive steps to improve their physical and mental health.

It highlights important issues such as physical health problems, mental wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of regular check-ups. The week also aims to reduce stigma around discussing health concerns including mental health and to promote better access to support.

With figures suggesting that around 50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point, we've decided this year to highlight some of the groups, activities and services around County Durham where you can improve your mental wellbeing by taking part in hobbies, sport or even just grabbing a cuppa!

We've mapped places across County Durham from the coast to the dales and the cities, towns and villages in between to showcase just some of what's on offer across our amazing county.

This first map looks at some of the wellbeing and discussion groups including places to get a coffee or a bite to eat in a friendly space. The list includes:

  • Men's Shed
  • Andy Man's Club
  • Spare 10 for Ben

And don't forget to check things like your local community centres - there's many across our county - where there also might be groups or sessions running too!

If you're more into sports, then fear not our final map has some of the more physical activities you can get involved in. The list includes:

  • Golf Courses
  • Football
  • Running Clubs

Also check things like your local leisure centres - thrive manage a network of county council ran leisure centres - where there also might be certain sport sessions or other activities running too!

Some of the groups and activities are exclusive men only spaces whilst some are open to all.

Check out the social media pages and websites of any of the groups mentioned for details on session timings and group details.
