Enter and View - Great Lumley Surgery

This report looks at the findings from when our authorised representatives visited Great Lumley Surgery as ‘Enter and View’.

Our trained representatives went into Great Lumley on 3rd July 2023 to get feedback from the patients using the doctors surgery. We carried out 11 individual interviews with patients and left surveys in the reception area prior to our visit and 3 were completed beforehand.

Here are some recommendations we have suggested to the surgery, you can find out more by reading our report linked below.

Recommendations

  • Everyone we spoke to in the surgery was able to get an appointment and the surgery aims to see every patient who has booked in within 14 days which is working well. Could this be promoted and explain why this works so well.
  • 80% of patients are making appointments by telephone call. Could the online booking system be promoted to lower demands on the phone line?
  • When patients have mental health issues/anxiety could the surgery make it easier for them to access appointments on the same day they book them to ease further anxiety/stress on them.
  • Half of the patients did not know the makeup of the staff structure. Could this be explained in the surgery (on a notice board etc) or through the social media?
