Enter and View - Hampton Manor

Our role at Healthwatch County Durham is to gather people’s views and experiences, especially those that are seldom heard. In July a pre-announced Enter and View visit was undertaken by authorised representatives at Hampton Manor located in Consett. Our authorised representatives have the authority to enter health and social care premises. The aim of an Enter and View visit is to gather views and experiences of residents, relatives and staff of a service and observe the environment to assess the quality of the service. All responses were recorded anonymously so to retain confidentiality and anonymity of respondents, any identifiable details have been removed from quotes.

Hampton Manor is a purpose built residential care home in Consett. The home can cater for residential care, dementia care, respite, palliative and end of life care. There are 55 bedrooms, at the time of the report 47 were occupied. The facility includes a cinema screen, bar, library and gardens. The care home employs approximately 40 members of staff, including a cook and activity coordinator. Two weeks prior to the Enter and View visit, we publicised our visit by leaving a display about Healthwatch County Durham and details of our visit.
